Mizuho and NTT DATA to deploy customized GenAI models

Mizuho Financial Group and NTT DATA have signed a joint research agreement to develop a "Mizuho-Specialized Model" based on NTT's large language model (LLM) "tsuzumi". This aims to build a customized generative AI model that reflects Mizuho's unique culture and know-how, pursuing something beyond a general financial model that is uniquely "Mizuho."

Today, generative AI technology is becoming a core element of corporate competitiveness. Mizuho and NTT DATA Group have agreed to begin joint research aimed at providing innovative solutions that combine their respective strengths in this rapidly evolving generative AI technology.

Mizuho released its text generation AI assistant "Wiz Chat" in June 2023, accelerating internal use of generative AI, and established the "AIX Promotion Office" in April 2024 to actively promote operational efficiency and new business development using generative AI.

Meanwhile, NTT DATA Group is focusing on providing new business solutions utilizing generative AI, and is accelerating the promotion of measures for utilizing the generative AI "tsuzumi", which was announced for commercial use by NTT in March 2024.

This partnership will pursue possibilities for Mizuho's business innovation by conducting development and verification aimed at realizing company-specific AI agents, through tuning relatively lightweight models among LLMs including "tsuzumi®".

Specifically, tsuzumi will acquire domain knowledge about Mizuho and the financial industry by being pre-trained on internal data such as new employee training materials and internal knowledge, as well as corporate data related to specific industries. Additionally, the pre-trained model will be instruction-tuned to adjust outputs to specific formats.

This will lead to solutions that maximize the group's knowledge assets by realizing a model that combines high accuracy and practicality.

The "Mizuho-Specialized Model" to be built through this joint research is planned to be deployed in various use cases that will realize efficiency and sophistication of sales operations. For example, this includes corporate analysis agents and proposal creation agents, and the partners aim to achieve efficient and smooth sales activities by combining multiple such agents. Furthermore, by expanding its scope of application, they aim to establish core solutions that support group-wide business innovation, including the realization of personal agents in digital channels.

Additionally, by learning from Mizuho's internal materials, the partners aim to realize AI transformation of "Mizuho-specific" knowledge gained from materials and strengthen responses based on fiduciary duty (customer-oriented business operations).
