Frontier Innovations Fund 1 with LP Investment from JAXA Announces Second Close

Frontier Innovations announces that SME Support Japan and JA Mitsui Leasing have joined as new Limited Partners (LPs) in the Frontier Innovations Fund 1 operated by the Company as a General Partner. SME Support Japan has agreed to invest up to 2.5 billion yen.

This fund is the first to receive anchor LP investment from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the core implementing agency that technologically supports the entire Japanese government's space development and utilization. It is also the first fund in Japan to receive LP investment from a National Research and Development Agency.

By this second close, the fund has welcomed participation from leading Japanese institutional investors and corporations including JAXA, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mitsui Fudosan, Development Bank of Japan, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, Hinoki, Incubate Fund, Shinryo Corporation, and FFG Venture Business Partners.

The Fund primarily targets seed and early-stage investments in deep tech startups in space and non-space sectors (including climate tech, AI, robotics, sensors/component technologies, AR/VR, and other advanced/frontier technology fields), providing lead/hands-on investment and support. Since establishment, investment activities have progressed steadily, and Frontier Innovations is striving to create successful cases of space and non-space deep tech startups and to create and expand their ecosystem.

Frontier Innovations will continue to accept additional investments from investors and business companies who agree with the purpose and background of this fund toward the final close, and plan to expand collaborative activities and networks.
