Sompo Japan Insurance, Toshiba Digital Solutions, and Protosure have developed and launched an insurance sales management system for corporate insurance products using Protosure’s insurance product development and sales platform, utilizing no-code technology.
Background and Objectives
For Sompo Japan’s corporate insurance products, insurance design was being conducted using Excel-based premium calculation tools at agencies and sales offices, involving complex contract procedures performed manually. This created challenges in digitalizing contract procedures and improving back-office operational efficiency. To address these challenges, Toshiba Digital Solutions developed an insurance sales management system for corporate insurance products leveraging Protosure’s platform, incorporating the specific characteristics of Sompo Japan’s insurance operations. This marks the first time Protosure has provided its platform to a Japanese insurance company.
System Development Overview
Sompo Japan began its collaboration with Protosure, an American startup company, in December 2022. Using Protosure’s existing product for insurance product development and sales, they developed a sales management system that incorporates premium calculation tools with complex logic for corporate insurance products, managing everything from insurance design to application form creation and posting data transmission. Toshiba Digital Solutions, with its expertise in insurance business systems, helped resolve issues that were difficult to address with the existing product by improving screen design and operability to match Sompo Japan’s insurance business systems, enhancing both development and operational efficiency through a “Fit to Standard” approach.
While developing this system from scratch would have taken over 18 months, using Protosure’s existing product reduced the development period to approximately 8 months, achieving a 60% reduction in development time. Additionally, agencies and sales offices have been freed from complicated contract procedures, enabling them to deliver policies to customers more quickly, realizing a system that is “faster,” “lower cost,” and “more convenient.”
Future Plans
Sompo Japan has initially released this system for comprehensive movable property insurance but plans to develop insurance sales management systems for other corporate insurance products as well. The three companies will continue to collaborate to transform insurance sales management system development and insurance sales methods, working to respond swiftly to insurance needs in the digital age.
