Carbon EX Supports Japan's First "Joint Delivery J-Credit Project" by Logisteed

Carbon EX has supported the registration of Japan's first "J-Credit Project utilizing joint delivery" by Logisteed. This project is a groundbreaking initiative that leads to decarbonization in the logistics industry and the construction of a sustainable supply chain.

Carbon EX is a joint venture between ASUENE (51%) and SBI Holdings (49%).

Background of J-Credit Utilization in the Logistics Industry

The logistics industry is an essential infrastructure supporting the economy and society, yet it is one of the major sectors accounting for approximately 20% of CO2 emissions in Japan. In particular, freight transportation, centered on truck transport, has high energy consumption, making the reduction of environmental impact an urgent issue. Additionally, amid the intensifying transportation constraints due to driver shortages and the "2024 logistics problem," there is a need for systems that can simultaneously improve transport efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

To address these challenges, Logisteed launched the "Green Logi Credit Project" to promote transport efficiency through "joint delivery" and contribute to the decarbonization of the entire industry by utilizing its environmental value as J-Credits. Carbon EX provided specialized consulting and application support for the J-Credit registration in this project, helping to realize Japan's first "joint delivery J-Credit project" registration.

Key Points of Carbon EX's J-Credit Registration Support

There were three main factors that led Logisteed to utilize Carbon EX's credit creation consulting.

1. Realizing Japan's First "Joint Delivery" J-Credit Registration

Logisteed focused on the environmental value of joint delivery, which balances transport efficiency and CO2 emission reduction, and challenged J-Credit registration. Carbon EX thoroughly examined the project's eligibility based on the latest J-Credit system methodology and fully supported the registration application process. As a result, the first J-Credit registration utilizing joint delivery in Japan was realized.

This establishes a new model case for promoting carbon neutrality in the logistics industry and is a pioneering initiative that will accelerate decarbonization across the entire industry.

2. Comprehensive Support from Project Registration and Operation to Credit Issuance

Project operation after J-Credit registration is a major challenge for many companies. Carbon EX provides support not only for project registration but also for operation necessities such as monitoring, data collection, and report creation. Furthermore, Carbon EX provides support for necessary procedures to facilitate the credit issuance process, utilizing specialized knowledge.

This comprehensive support enables companies to reduce the long-term operational burden of projects and establish an environment where credits can be reliably issued.

3. Utilization of the Carbon Credit Market and Creation of Economic Benefits

Carbon EX focuses not only on supporting J-Credit registration but also on supporting credit trading and promoting market circulation. In this project, Carbon EX has built a system that supports the circulation of issued credits, contributing to companies' decarbonization management.

By issuing CO2 emission reductions through joint delivery as J-Credits, shipper companies can reduce environmental impact while gaining economic benefits in the carbon credit market.

This mechanism enables companies to accelerate decarbonization management while aiming to establish a sustainable logistics model.

Future Outlook

In this project, shipper companies implement joint delivery, and Logisteed applies for and issues J-Credits based on the reduced CO2 emissions. The issued credits are sold in markets, etc., and the proceeds are returned to the shipper companies.

Both companies will continue to strengthen support for J-Credit project registration and trading, supporting corporate decarbonization management to contribute to the realization of a more sustainable society.
